William "Will" Jesse Hammond, Iii

William "Will" Jesse Hammond, III, 96, died Friday, April 24, 2015 in St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be Monday from 10-11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Kosciusko. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. in the church with burial to follow in the Kosciusko City Cemetery. Jordan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Dr. Edward A. Hartman and Rev. Phillip J. Palmertree will officiate. He was a retired co-owner of Hammond Hardware Company and a former director of M & F Bank in Kosciusko. He was a lifelong member and a former Elder and Deacon of First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Hammond was a member of the Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. At the time of his death, he was a resident of Sunnybrook Estates Retirement Community. He was a Captain in World War II in the Army Air Corp and in Korea in the United States Air Force. Survivors include daughters, Barbara Hammond of Jackson, MS and Mary Hammond Stebbins of Mobile, AL; grandchild, Flynt Stebbins Connor and husband, William Drake Connor of Vestavia Hills, AL; and great-grandchildren, Margaret-Flynt Connor and William Anson Connor, both of Vestavia Hills, AL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbye Irby Hammond; parents, William J. Hammond, Jr. and Mary Flynt Hammond; sisters, Margaret Hammond Lodwick McCool and Flynt Hammond Power; brother, Pat Hammond; and son-in-law, Edwin A. Stebbins, III. Pallbearers are William Hammond Power, Alexander Kenneth Power, William Drake Connor, Dr. Don Edwin Smith, Charles Douglas King and Robert Therrell Bob Jordan. Honorary pallbearers are Brooks Swales and The Session, Elder Emeritus, and The Diaconate of the First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to French Camp Academy, One Fine Place, French Camp, MS 39745, Reformed Theological Seminary, 601 McDonald Drive, Clinton, MS 39056, or First Presbyterian Church Missions Fund, 603 Smythe Street, Kosciusko, MS 39090.
