Dr. William "Bill" Martin Myers, Sr. Kosciusko, MS Dr. William Myers, Sr. died Friday, November 18, 2016 at Mississippi Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS. Visitation is 1:30-3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Jordan Funeral Home. Services are 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Jordan Funeral Home. Rev. Barry Corbett and Rev. Mike Myers will officiate the services. Dr. Myers was born in Detroit, Michigan on August, 10, 1927. He graduated as Valedictorian from Madden High School where he served as president of the senior class. He served as president of the FFA Club, and was awarded the State FFA Certificate. He was an avid bird hunter in high school. He served as a hospital corpsman in the United States Navy. Dr. Myers graduated from Emory University with a DDS degree. While in dental school, he presented clinics on crown and bridge dentistry at the New Orleans Dental meeting. After attending college, he worked at the Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks as a biologist. Dr. Myers opened his dental practice in Kosciusko in 1954. He was a member of both the MS and American Dental Association. He was a charter member and president of the Magnolia Dental Society. Dr. Myers served as past president, zone chairman, and twice served as Deputy District Governor of the Kosciusko Lions Club. He was a cattleman, and served as past president of the Natchez Trace Polled Hereford Association. He was appointed to the Governor's Staff of Gov. Ross Barnett, Gov. Paul Johnson, and Gov. Cliff Finch. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Kosciusko. He served on the board of directors of Merchants and Farmers Bank for twenty-five years. He was a member of the Lambda Chi Alfa Fraternity at Millsaps College. He was a past president of the Attala Rod and Gun Club. His hobbies included: hunting, fishing, gardening, and playing dominos. Dr. Myers was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Clifton Myers and Bessie Hardage Myers. His survivors include: wife, Marrianne Holland Myers; sons, Marty (Donna) Myers, Mike (Sarah) Myers, and Steve (Melissa) Myers; granddaughters, Mallory, Katy, Rachael, and Susannah; grandsons, Reese, Warner, Matthew, Andrew, Wes, and Holland; great-grandchildren, William, Samuel, and Ayla.
