Howard Wayne Ornsbey, 56, of the Zama community passed away December 29, 2022, at his residence surrounded by family. Visitation is 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 2, 2023, at Jordan Funeral Home. Funeral service is at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. Rev. Chris O’ Daniel will officiate the services.
Wayne was born August 9, 1966, in Greenwood, Mississippi to Charles Ray Ornsbey and Vivian Louise Heath Hobson. Wayne worked for National Resources Conservation Services as a soil conservationist. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and MS Forester’s Association.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Stephanie Barrett Ornsbey of Zama; one son, Cody (Harlie) Ornsbey of Zama; two daughters, Autumn Ornsbey of Zama and Amber (Austin) Ornsbey Palmertree of Zama; step-father, Charles Hobson of Zama; three grandchildren, Eli Ornsbey, Mackenzie Palmertree, and Laikynn Ornsbey; and a number of cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Ray Ornsbey and Vivian Louise Heath Hobson; grandmother, Loree Heath and grandfather, Howard Heath.
Serving as pallbearers are Scott Coleman, Johnny Reeves, Hugh Barrier, Brandon Palmertree, Fred Ornsbey, John Breazeale, and Johnny Barber. Serving as honorary pallbearers Steve Barrett, Charles Hobson, Jason Rideout, Brad Cain, Christian Stonnington, and David Lawrence.
