Wayne Leonard

Wayne Leonard, 87, of French Camp, Mississippi, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Martha Jo Leslie State Veterans Home. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Jordan Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Bethsaida Cemetery. Rev. Randy Bridges will officiate the services. 

Wayne was born November 7, 1937, to Gus Leonard and Lois O’Neal Leonard in French Camp, Mississippi. He went to Holmes Junior College and Delta State University and was drafted by the Dallas Texans. He was then drafted into the United States Army of America, where he served his county. Wayne was inducted into Holmes Junior College and Delta State University Hall of Fame. He was very goal-oriented, winning many service awards with Combine Insurance Company, where he was an insurance agent. 

Wayne is survived by his daughters, Jodi Russell of Dossville, Mississippi, Connie Wells of Talladega, Alabama, and Wanda (Jeremy) Sanders of Talladega, Alabama; step-sons, Johnathan Hollingsworth of Decatur, Mississippi, and Tommy Hollingsworth of Caledonia, Mississippi; son-in-law, Ricky Burns; niece, Delois Field; nephews, Ralph Leonard and Travis Leonard; grandchildren, Cindy Middlebrook, Dan Russell, Ethan Russell, George Thomas, Randy Puneky, Adam Burns, and Jace Sanders; and 10 great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gus Leonard and Lois O’Neal Leonard; brother, James Leonard; daughter, Barbara Burns; and nephew, Tommy Leonard. 

Serving as pallbearers are Ethan Russell, Adam Burns, George Thomas, Travis Grice, Russell Leonard, and Robert Leonard.
