Vivion Valentine Reed Jennings, 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at her home in Pensacola. "Miss Vivion" was beloved by all who knew and met her. She was born on June 27, 1920 in Dyersburg, TN to John H. and Nell Thomas Blood Reed. She was the youngest of four. Her brothers were John Jewell Reed, Everettt E. Reed and C. Calcutt Reed. Vivion, despite several health problems, was full of energy and loved life. She was a tap dance teacher for many years and directed the Pensacola Dancing Grannies until her health became an issue. She performed at nursing homes and she and her Dancing Grannies group brought joy to elderly and disabled persons. Vivion also was a member for many years of the Ferry Pass Heights Homemakers Club and the Pensacola Woman's Club where she won Woman of the Year for two consecutive years. She was married to Douglas Stephens Jennings, senior Civil Engineer at Chemstrand (later Monsanto). The Jennings family moved to Pensacola in 1952 when Chemstrand was just getting started. Vivion is survived by her four children; Judy Edge (John), Eugene "Bud" Jennings (Norma), Stephen Perry Jennings (Rosa) and Stephanie Jennings; her grandchildren are Banks Edwards, III (Pam), Cynthia Edwards Grant, Dianna Sorensen (Kevin), Rebecca Jennings Smith (Walter), Christina Jennings Fairey (David), Nathan Jennings and Andy Jennings; as well as 16 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Shirley Jennings Skipper; brother-in-law, Jimmie Roby and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the Parkway Cemetery. Jordan Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
