Virginia Smith Moore

Virginia Smith Moore, 85, of Barnes, died Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. Visitation is from 11-1 p.m. on Friday, February 6 at Rocky Point Baptist. Funeral services are 1 p.m. in the church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Shane McGivney will officiate. She was born August 23, 1929 in Sunflower County. She was a member of Rocky Point Baptist Church and the church choir. She also was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary and the Independent Insurance Agent Association. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking and fishing with her family. She is survived by her daughters, Sherry M. Hopper, of Lake Village, AR and Dawn M. Hagewood of Columbus; grandchildren, Rainer Hagewood, Chris Stauddy, James Stauddy, Joseph Hopper, Josh Hopper, McCall Moore, Brandon Yeager, Landon Sanders and Paxton Tharp; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Emery Wayple Moore; parents, William Clarence and Katie Catherine Roberts Smith; son, Stan Moore; and a brother, Davis Smith.
