Verna Odean Barnett Dees

Verna Barnett Dees, 87, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Baptist-Attala Medical Center in Kosciusko. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, April 7 at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Bethany Church of God Cemetery. Rev. Donald Self and Rev. Chuck Sisson will officiate. She was a member of the Bethany Church of God. She was a retired factory worker from the Kosciusko Hosiery Mill and Universal Electric. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed going to church. Survivors include her daughters, Louise (Paul) Roberts of Singleton and Libby (Butch) Chapman of Ethel; son, Jeffrey (Denise) Dees of Ethel; six grandchildren, Leslie Massey, Craig Blanton, Alex Blanton, Michael Dees, Colin Dees, and Amy Potts; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Harvey Dale Barnett of Houston, MS; and sister, Evelyn Pettit of Houston, MS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Dees; son, Johnny Dees; and her parents, Fred and Emmie Olean Gibson Barnett. Pallbearers are Roy Lee Dees, Michael Dale Dees, Craig Blanton, Jalen Potts, Brandon Hines, and Bubba Hodges. Honorary pallbearers are Sandy Ainsworth, Mike Craddock, Jamie Hodges, and Gene Curtis.
