Thomas Gene Shurden

Thomas Gene Shurden, 88, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 15, 2017. Graveside services will be at 6 p.m. in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Matt Steed and Dr. Dick Hill will officiate. He was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman. Survivors include his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Beatrice Shurden; parents, Thomas Wellborn Shurden and Mildred Hunt Shurden; and brothers, Willis Hunt Shurden and Princeton Wellborn Shurden; sisters, Carmalita May and Vonita Shurden Nunn. Pallbearers are Dale Hunt, Tim Hunt, Joe Hunt, Dan Hunt, Ethan Hunt, and Billy Shurden Nunn. Honorary pallbearers are Glenn Deason, Doug Fisher, D.J. Fisher, and Joe Canterberry. Memorials may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church.
