Terry Overstreet, 78, of Kosciusko, died Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital in Kosciusko. Visitation will be tomorrow from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko. Funeral services are to follow at 1 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Parkway Cemetery. Rev. Barry Corbett will officiate. Mr. Overstreet was born Oct. 15, 1935 in Winona. He was the oldest son of A.B. and Minnie Ruth Kite. He served two years active duty in the Army, then joined the National Guard, going through OSC in 1962. He was the commander of the Kosciusko National Guard Unit for several years before retiring with the rank of Captain. He mostly worked as the export sales engineer, traveling to Africa, Canada, South America, and the Middle East. He ended his career at G&O manufacturing where he taught himself to use the AutoCAD system. In 1958, he married Jan Hanna Gant and they were married almost 21 years until her death in 1979. He never remarried. He was dearly loved by his children and grandchildren. Survivors include a daughter, Kathy (Bill) Haley of Smyrna, GA; sons, Steven (Katrina) Overstreet of Kosciusko, and Chris (Tricia) Overstreet of Columbus; grandchildren, Laura and Jordan Haley, Peyton, Jana and Ronnie Overstreet; brothers, Larry (Valerie) Overstreet of Pearl and Jan Overstreet of Kosciusko; and a special sister-in-law, Deborah (Johnny) Breazeale of Kosciusko. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Mike Overstreet; brother, Charles "Squirt" Overstreet; and his mother-in-law, Hazel "Hay" Gant.
