Susie C. Burns

Susie Cathleen Burns, nee Tavares, 79, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2014. Susie was born July 18, 1934, in Kosciusko, Mississippi. She spent her childhood in Kosciusko and New Orleans before marrying Charles Warren Burns on June 1, 1953. For 52 years, they were inseparable. While raising six children, she travelled the world with her husband. She possessed an adventurous and restless spirit, but nothing defined her like her love for her family. She and Charles resettled in Kosciusko after their retirement. Susie was a devoted parishioner of St. Therese Catholic Church. Her parents, Daniel John and Hazel Tavares; husband, Charles; sons, Charles Warren Burns, Jr. and James Wayne Burns; and brothers, Daniel and Jerry Tavares, preceded her in death. Susie leaves behind a large family who will celebrate and cherish the memory of her love, charity, and innumerable acts of kindness. They include her children, Pamela Sue, Thomas Lance, Timothy Wilson, and Warren Tavares Burns; her grandchildren, Charles Warren Burns III, Christina Burns, Adam Dunkelberger, Aaron Dunkelberger, Alaina Dunkelberger, Jeremy Burns, Katie Burns, Hannah Burns, Hank Burns, Mikel Wilcox, Allison Rathan, Quinn Burns, Jake Burns, Callie Burns, Abby Burns, Ellie Burns, John Burns, Helen Aubrey Burns, and Adelaide Tavares Burns; great-grandchildren, Tabari Alexander, Myra Wilcox, Tristan Wilcox, Remy Rathan, and Jenson Rathan; and her brothers and sisters, Horace Tavares, Amy Charity, Helen Farbe, Bobbie Carbo, Kay Patrick, Fay Frasier, Ricky Tavares, and Sammy Tavares. A visitation was held on February 26, 2014, at Jordan Funeral Home, in Kosciusko. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 27, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Kosciusko.
