Sue Oliver Pettit

Sue Oliver Pettit, 99, died Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Highland Home in Ridgeland. Visitation will be at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko at 10 a.m. Tuesday with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. There will be a private burial at Kosciusko City Cemetery. Mrs. Pettit, a lifelong resident of Attala County, was born May 8, 1915 to Francis M. and Lanie Long Oliver. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Otho Pettit, and all eleven of her brothers and sisters. Sue married Otho in 1934 and made a loving home for him until his death in 2002. She did her job as homemaker and mother with much joy and pride. She was known as a wonderful cook and made everyone feel welcome in her home. She was the youngest of twelve children and stayed close to every member of this large family through the years. She was a member of First Baptist Church for 78 years, where she taught Sunday school for many years. Survivors include her children, Patsy Jordan (David) of Jackson; Otho "Bubba" Pettit, Jr. (Gail) of Kosciusko; grandchildren, Jennifer Adams (Bill) of Brandon, Paxton Pettit, and Hart Pettit (Whitney), both of Kosciusko; four great-grandchildren, Oliver and Lauren Adams and Tanner and Emory Hart Pettit; and Nancy Josey, who was her caregiver and sweet friend.
