Shirley Newsom, 90, of Kosciusko, Mississippi passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023, at OCH Hospital in Starkville, Mississippi. Visitation is 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service is 1 :00 p.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Parkway Cemetery. Steve Jordan will officiate.
Shirley was born December 19, 1932, in Mississippi to Tom King and Winnie Bell King. She retired from Kosciusko Middle Elementary School as a cafeteria worker. Shirley was a member of Parkway Baptist Church.
Shirley is survived by her son Larry Newsom; daughter-in-law Cindy Newsom and Cyndi Newsom; grandchildren Amy Newsom, Amie (Zach) Guttery, and Jake (Julie) Newsom; great-grandchildren Luke, Adam, Brysen, and Jacob; a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Tom King and Winnie Bell King, husband Dinson Newsom, son Dennis Newsom, brothers Bernard King, and Benton King, and a sister Dorothy Belcher.
Serving as pallbearers are Billy Newsom, Zach Guttery, James Crowson, Aaron Cockroft, Tom Jordan, and JP Tate. Serving as honorary pallbearer is James McAdams.
