Scott Monroe Wiggers

Scott Monroe Wiggers, 77, passed away peacefully at his home on April 10th, 2022. He was born on May 28th, 1944, in Columbus, Georgia, to Laura and Bert Wiggers. He was a graduate of Jordan Vocational High School and Clarke Memorial Junior College, Newton, Mississippi, before obtaining a B.S. degree in business administration from William Carey College, Hattiesburg, Mississippi. After completing his education, he accepted an examiner position with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) regional office in Nashville, Tennessee. Later he transferred to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where he met his future wife, Faye. Scott began his banking career with Merchants and Farmers Bank and First M&F Corporation in 1974. He served in numerous areas of responsibility during his thirty-five-year career with the bank. Prior to retiring, he served as Chief Operating Officer and President, as well as a Vice Chairman of First M&F Corporation. He was also a graduate of the Louisiana State University School of Banking. Scott was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, and his faith was truly the center of his life. Over the years before his illness, he served as a deacon, a Sunday school teacher, a choir member, and a member of various church committees. He served as Chairman of the finance committee for the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board for numerous years. He loved his family and was a devoted husband and father. He loved his community and was an active participant in organizations such as the Lions Club and the Chamber of Commerce and volunteered to assist with local voting elections. He loved his country and served in the Army National Guard for numerous years. Scott is survived by his wife, Faye; daughters, Kimberly Wiggers of Flowood, MS and Alison Wiggers of Jackson, MS; brother Bert (Dean) Wiggers of Toney, Alabama; nephews Jason Wiggers of Toney, Alabama, and John (Liz) Wiggers of Knoxville, Tennessee; great nephews Jack Wiggers (Hannah) of Atlanta, Georgia, Elliot Wiggers of Knoxville, Tennessee; and cousin, Eddie (Linda) Overby of Brandon, MS. Visitation will be 5:00 -8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko, MS. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Jordan Funeral Home. Rev. Gene Richardson and Hugh S. Potts, Jr will officiate. Interment will follow at Parkway Cemetery. Pallbearers are Don Leslie, Jack Ables, Josh McGee, Jim Rawls, Ron Elkin, Gorge Manjarrez. Honorary pallbearers are Members of Kosciusko Lions Club, and Employees of Merchants and Farmers Bank.
