Sammy Smith

Mr. Sammy Smith, 70, of Carthage, passed away August 24, 2020 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 11:00 am at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Conway cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Meggs officiating. Jordan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Sammy was born in the McVille community of Leake county to Hez Samuel and Rue Lewis Smith. He was a member and Deacon of the Thomastown Christian Church. He was employed with the Attala County CO-OP for fifty years, and the last twelve years he was the general manager. Survivors include his wife Nancy Smith of Carthage; two daughters, Laura Smith of Kosciusko and Robin (Gene) McMurry of Carthage, MS; one brother, Owen (Tina) Smith of North Carolina; two sisters, Frances (Ray) Bardin and Shirley Joiner both of Kosciusko, MS; three grandchildren, Joseph (Brianna) Alford of Philadelphia, MS., Joshua Alford of Carthage, MS, Caroline ( Cole) Hutchison of Kosciusko, MS; two great-grandchildren, Gage and Waylon Hutchison along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hez Samuel and Rue Lewis Smith. Pallbearers will be Joseph Alford, Josh Alford, Keith Bardin, Mike Jones, Cole Hutchison and Adam Jones. Memorials may be made to the Thomastown Christian Church.
