Sammie Earl Cummins, 94, of Kosciusko, Mississippi, passed away July 4, 2023, at his residence. Visitation is 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Crestview Church. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Crestview Church with burial to follow at Parkway Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Meggs and Rev. Chris Nowell will officiate.
Sammie was born October 24, 1928, to Early Lee Cummins and Effie Bibb Corley Cummins in Mississippi. As a younger man, he worked at the Attala County Cotton Gin. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a Quality Assurance Supervisor at Ingalls Shipyard from 1956-1980. He was a member of Crestview Church.
Sammie is survived by his wife, Dorlis Frazier Cummins; daughter, Frances (Larry) Gaul; son, Keith Cummins of Pascagoula, MS; grandchildren, Stephanie Barnes, Jodi (Chris) Nowell, Jeffrey (Brittany) Cummins, Lindsey (Tim) West; great-grandchildren, Ariana Davis, Preston Dizmang, Hadassah Davis, Chris Dizmang, Zachary Nowell, Bethany Nowell Conner Cummins, Chloe Cummins, Nolan West, Avery West, and Leah West; and great-great-grandchild, Lorelei Davis.
He was preceded in death by parents, Early Lee Cummins and Effie Bibb Corley Cummins; sisters, Juanita Bennett, Margaret McMillian, Estell Johnson Allread; and brother, Marvin Cummins.
Serving as pallbearers are Preston Dizmang, Jeffrey Cummins, Tim West, Zach Nowell, Thayer Davis, and Chris Nowell.
