Ruby Sue Dees Thompson

Mrs Ruby Sue Dees Thompson, 88, of Ethel, died Thursday, June 11, 2015, at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital, in Winona. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at Jordan Funeral Home, and again from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church. Funeral services are 3 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at Liberty Chapel, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Walter Hines and Rev. Tony Black will officiate. Mrs. Thompson was born January 10, 1927, in French Camp, to Thomas Horton and Leona Peeler Dees. She was a member of Ethel United Methodist Church, a homemaker, an avid quilter with the RSVP, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Senior Volunteer of the Year for both the American Legion Auxiliary, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Attala County "Citizen of the Year" recipient, and a volunteer at the RSVP Center, the Kosciusko/Natchez Trace Information Center, and the Martha Jo Leslie State Veterans Home. She was a good neighbor and friend to all. Those surviving her are her daughter, Wendenlyn "Wendy" Walters, of Ethel; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Thompson; grandchildren, Randall Scott (Meagan) Walters, Shannon Walters (Ricky) McGivney, Arthur Austin (Tammy) Thompson, and Justin Morgan (Megan) Thompson; great-grandchildren, Christian Nicolyette (Rion) Henderson, Hunter Chase, Colby Ryan, and Caleb Cole Walters, Josey Cornelia, Audrey Elizabeth, Carrie Suezanne, Carley Lane, Geoffrey Locke, and Hadley Paige Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Randol Thompson; son, Barksdale Thompson; parents; a brother, Eunice Dees; and two sisters, Orean Stafford, and Grethel Dees. Memorials may be sent to Berea Baptist Church, or to the Liberty Chapel Cemetery Fund.
