Ralph Self

Ralph F. Self, Jr., 71, is healed and rests in Heaven in the arms of Jesus. Mr. Self passed away at his residence in Hesterville, Mississippi, on September 5, 2023.

Mr. Self was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi on March 24, 1952. He was married to his beloved wife of 51 years, Brenda (Ramage) Self. He proudly served his country for 13 years in the Army National Guard. Ralph was a 32nd Degree Mason. He retired as a commercial plumbing contractor where he completed large scale plumbing projects across the United States.

Ralph lived life to the fullest and enjoyed many hobbies to include classic cars, hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, and utilizing his unique sense of humor for which he will never be forgotten. He never met a stranger and had many friends from different walks of life.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph F. Self, Sr. and Dorothy Herod Self; sister, Barbara F. Self; brothers, Stacey L. Self, and Thurman A. Self; and father & mother-in-law, Boyd and Jessie Melcher Ramage; and brother-in-law Bob Dumas.

Ralph leaves behind his wife and high school sweetheart, Brenda Ramage Self; sisters, Jerrie E. Self Dumas, Karen Self Kuhn (Freddie), April Self Jordan (Ric); sister-in law, Peggy Ramage Gilliland (David), Neal Ramage (Christine), many nieces and nephews he loved and cherished. Bob, Freddie and Ric were brothers-in-law however, Ralph loved them as brothers, just as he did his life-long friend, Herb Elam. Ralph also leaves behind his loyal dog, Sonny.

Arrangements are as follows:

Visitation will be at Jordan Funeral Home located at 855 MS-12, Kosciusko, Mississippi, on Friday, September 8, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Jordan Funeral Home. Interment will follow at North Union Cemetery with Masonic Rights and Military Honors. Reverend Neal Ramage, Reverend Donald Self, and Reverend Butch Bingham will officiate the services.

Pallbearers will be Tim Self, Tom Self, H.R. Kuhn, Ben Gilliland, David Gilliland, Thomas Carter, Jason Armstrong, Jeremy Grantham, and David Self.

Honorary Pallbearers are Ric Jordan, Freddie Kuhn, Herb Elam, Kyle Armstrong, Ronnie Armstrong, Andy Carter, Johnny Carter, Gay Carter, David Gilliland, Scott Davis, Scotty Grantham, Bubba McCool, Men of Sandhill Baptist Church, and Kozy Kruisers.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Jordan Funeral Home  in Ralph Self, Jr.’s honor.
