Rachel Ward West

Rachel Ann Ward West Kosciusko, Mississippi Rachel Ann Ward West, 74, died in her sleep at her home, December 16, 2017. Visitation will be 8:30 am until 10:00 am, Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko. Funeral Services will follow at 10:00 am in the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barry C. Corbett and Rev. Randel Poss officiating. Interment will be 3:00 pm at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wiggins, Mississippi. Mrs. West was born in Wiggins, MS on July 12, 1943, to John R. and Virgie Leigh Bates Ward, she was a graduate of Wiggins High School, in Stone County, William Carey University, in Hattiesburg, MS and received a Master's degree from Mississippi State University. Rachel exceled as a teacher and retired from teaching in the Kosciusko School System. She also taught in Attala County Schools, Maben School District, and Oktibbeha County School District. Rachel was a member of the Kosciusko First Baptist Church and was a gifted musician and a warm, loving, friendly servant in her home and in her church. She was a partner with her husband of 51 years in ministry in Magee, MS, Brookhaven, MS, McComb, MS, and in Kosciusko, MS. Her compassion and love endeared to all whoever met and worked with her. Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, John R. Ward and Virgie Leigh Bates Ward, her sister, Gloria Jean Ward Poss, and a niece, Jana Ward Webb. Survivors include her husband, Virdie Daniel West of Kosciusko, MS. One son, Scott Daniel West and his wife, Suzanne Douglas West and their daughter Alexandra Katherine West of Kosciusko, MS. Daughter, Shannon Rachelle West King and her husband, Jay King and their children, Avery Robertson King, Nolan Jamison King, Nathaniel Abram King, Elora Karise King, and John Ward Pallorina King of Concord, CA. Daughter, Susan Jeanette West Edwards and her children, Andrew Reed Edwards, and Jacob Edwards of Homewood, AL. She is also survived by: Her brother, Rev. A. Wayne Ward, and his wife, Norma of Columbia, MS.; Their daughter, Melanie Ward Butler and her son George, and daughter, Grace of London England. Her brother-in-law, Rev. Randle S. Poss, and his wife, Jackie of Maben, MS. His son, Dr. Randy Poss, and his wife Connie, of Grenada, MS. His son Kent, of Nashville, TN., his daughter Lauren Jenkins, and her husband Chris, of Oxford and their daughter Hayden. His son, Rev. Lawson Harlow, and his wife Beth of Olive Branch, MS. His daughter, Kathryn Cox and her husband Michael of Grenada, and their son, Cam. His daughter, Lecia Bain, and her husband, Dr. Randy Bain of Water Valley, MS. Their son, Ryan and his wife, Christy, of Clinton, MS. Their son, Brett, of Water Valley. Pallbearers include: Randy Poss, Randy Bain, Ryan Bain, Dale Fulgham, Scott Rigby, and Rob Pickle.
