Peggy Sue Smith

Peggy Sue Smith, 80, of Carthage, Mississippi, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her family. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m., on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Jordan Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Parkway Cemetery. Dr. Luke Gardner will officiate the services. 

Peggy was born on August 5, 1944, in Mississippi, to Richard Calvin Barnett and Carmen Arnett Barnett. She married the love of her life, James Smith, and they were married for 62 years. Peggy was a member of Kosciusko First Baptist Church for many years. 

Peggy is survived by her husband, James Smith, of Carthage, Mississippi; her daughter, Dawn (Lance) Rawson, of Brandon, Mississippi; grandchildren, Andrew Haydu, John Haydu, Matthew (Taylor) Haydu, Nick Rawson, Brent (Ashley) Atkinson, Erin (Seth) Hodges, and Briana Brooks; great-grandchildren, Lyric Atkinson and Landis Atkinson; brother, Danny Ray (Sara) Barnett of Kosciusko, Mississippi; sister, Pamela Diane (Mike) Hopper of Iuka, Mississippi.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Calvin Barnett, and Carmen Arnett Barnett; brothers, Gary Barnett, Kerlyn Barnett, and Richard Barnett; sisters, Janis Bell and Sharon Kay Cummins; and daughter, Melissa Brooks. 

 Andrew Haydu, John Haydu, Matthew Haydu, Nick Rawson, Brent Atkinson, and Seth Hodges will serve as pallbearers.
