Peggy Hines Sims

Peggy Hines Sims, 90, of Ridgeland, formerly of Kosciusko, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at St. Dominic Hospital. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2024, at Jordan Funeral Home, and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Liberty Chapel Memorial Church. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the church with burial in Liberty Chapel Cemetery. Donny Sims will officiate the services. 

Peggy was born January 16, 1934, to James Franklin Hines, Sr., and Gladiola Josephine Kimbrough Hines in Attala County, Mississippi. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Madison, Mississippi, and loved her Sunday School Class. Peggy retired from banking in 1995 after working for 30-plus years. She worked with Merchants & Farmers Bank and retired from Union Planters Bank. Her hobbies were sewing, quilting, putting puzzles together, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. Peggy loved her grandchildren dearly, and they called her grandmother. 

Peggy is survived by sons, Ralph P. (Melinda) Sims, Jr. of Madison, Mississippi, and Jeff (Carrie) Sims of Kosciusko, Mississippi; daughter, Danita Sims (Alfred) Rawls of Ridgeland, Mississippi; grandchildren, Courtney (Marcus) Burge, Madison (Justin) Hurdle, Morgan (Andrew) Watkins, and Austin (Katherine) Sims; great-grandchildren, Sims, Turner, Brooks, Maely, Archer, Maddie, Sadie, and Ryder; and a number of nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Hines, Sr. and Gladiola Kimbrough Hines, her husband, Ralph Sims, Sr., and her brother, Frank Hines, Jr. 

Franklin Hines, Sid Hines, Austin Sims, Andrew Watkins, Justin Hurdle, and Marcus Burge will be pallbearers.
