Norman Mabry Roark

July 30, 1934 — January 16, 2019

Norman Mabry Roark passed away on January 16, 2019. He was 84 years old and a resident of Ethel, MS. Norman was a kind and generous person. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. He served in the United States Army in Okinawa and Iceland in 1951 and 1952. Norman worked many jobs for various companies, Weingartens Grocer, Esso Oil, JB Hunt, his own roofing company, an apartment complex owner in Chicago, a partner in an East Texas cattle farm, an independent long-haul trucker and expedited freight driver for many years. He enjoyed success in all his work endeavors and retired in 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Rhuel Roark and Grace Mabry Roark. His son, Norman Andrew Roark, grandson, Larry Carter, and stepdaughter, Ruby Jean Wiley. Survivors include his three children, Deborah Catherine Roark Jasso of Austin, TX, Joe Leroy Roark of Wilmington, NC, and Micki Jean Roark of Columbus, TX; nine grandchildren, Christie Roark Rios, Andrea Roark, Anthony Roark, Jennifer Jasso Wildermuth, Clemson Jasso, Jacob Roark, Tamara Roark, Tonia Carter, Jenny Lynn Roark; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Roark Proctor of Ethel, Wilsye Roark Grammar (Chuck) of Leland, MS, and Linda Roark Sheldon (Don) of Picayune, MS; brothers, Ralph Edward Roark of Kennard, TX, Joe Earl Roark (Clara) of Lufkin, TX, and James Leroy Roark (Carol) of St. Francisville, LA. A Memorial Service will take place at Ethel Baptist Church on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 2 p.m. Online condolences can be made at jordanfuneralhome.com.
