Nelba Irvlyn Dismuke Hines

March 2, 1921 — March 19, 2018

Nelba Irvlyn Dismuke Hines, 97, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at the Baptist-Attala in Kosciusko. Visitation is from 11-1 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Kosciusko First United Pentecostal Church. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church with burial to follow in the Kosciusko City Cemetery. Rev. Shannon Pennington and Bro. Greg Fortenberry will officiate. She was born to William Harris and Nannie Mozelle (Bailey) Dismuke on March 2, 1921. She attended the Zama School System but due to circumstances was unable to graduate with her classmates. This didn't defeat her and being the strong person she was, she worked hard and got her GED many years later. Nelba married Harry Hines, Sr. and they owned and operated Hines Service Station until retirement. Nelba was affiliated with the United Pentecostal Church for many years and served as a Sunday School Teacher for the youth and teens. These young men and women were very dear to her heart. She also served as a team member who devoted time to making and selling peanut brittle which helped to fund many different projects and missions for the church. Nelba served as an ambassador for Christ with her visits to the nursing home facilities and lending a helping hand to friends, family and anyone she knew who needed help. Nelba was a prayer warrior for all her family and extended family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the United Pentecostal Church for furthering the teachings of Jesus Christ. Nelba was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Pascal "Pat" Dismuke, Angus Trenton "Diz" Dismuke, Sr., James H. "Biddie" Fields, Jimmie H. "Bigby" Fields; sister, Nannie Evelyn Dismuke Smith; step-son, Harry Hines, Jr.; granddaughter, Beth Hines Cade; nephew, James E. "Buddy" Smith and Dennis Ray Dismuke; and niece, Kim Smith Howe.
