Mozell Veazey Avery

Mozell Veasey Avery, 93, died Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in the Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital in Kosciusko. Visitation is from 9-11 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2015 at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday in the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Liberty Chapel Cemetery. Rev. Gregg Spencer and Rev. Ralph Hunt will officiate. She was a long time (over 50 years) Sunday school teacher and YWA leader for the Ethel Baptist Church. She also was a member of the Ethel Chapter No. 76 of the Eastern Star where she was a past worthy matron. She was a poet, homemaker, and mother. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Scott and husband, Richard of Kosciusko and Barbara Spears and husband, David of Ethel; grandchildren, Kim Scott of Kosciusko, David and Melody Spears of Oxford, and Tara and Stan Kyle of Ethel; great-grandchildren, Sydney Spears, Madison Spears, Gavin Kyle and Gage Kyle; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Avery; parents, Robert Lee and Zarelda Iona Johnston Veazey; and seven brothers and sisters. Pallbearers will be the deacons of the Ethel Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or Gideon's International.
