Mattie "Reecy" White

Mattie Marie “Reecy” White, 84, of Kosciusko, Mississippi passed away Monday, April 15, 2024, at her residence. Visitation is 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2024, at Jordan Funeral Home. Funeral services are at 12:00 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2024, at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Parkway Cemetery. Dr. Luke Gardner will officiate the services.

Mattie “Reecy” was born August 25, 1939, in Carroll County, Mississippi. She worked in retail at McRaes Department store. She was a member of Kosciusko First Baptist Church where “Reecy” loved helping with Vacation bible School. She enjoyed sending birthdays and get-well cards to everyone. Reecy stayed busy doing this mailing 1000’s of cards yearly to local friends and friends all over the world. She also volunteered at the Kosciusko Visitor’s Center for over 25 years. She started dating her husband in 1955, and they were married on May 19, 1960.

Mattie is survived by her husband of 63 years, Wayne White of Kosciusko, Mississippi; son Ricky (Julia) White of Kosciusko, Mississippi; daughter Cheryl Houston of Madison, Mississippi; grandchildren Richard White, Daniel White, Julie Preston, and Emily Ferrer; great-grandchildren Dominic and Gatlin, Dakota Lane, & Nova White; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Evie B. Ellis, and several brothers and sisters.

Serving as pallbearers are Charles Hill, Charlie Hudson, Terry Cox, Robert Autry, Jack Holmes, and Jerry Price. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Ladies Sunday School Class # 3 of the Kosciusko First Baptist Church.
