Marene Pender Lewis

Marene Pender Lewis, 92, of Starkville, Mississippi, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025, after a brief illness. Marene was born February 2, 1933, in Attala County, Mississippi, to James Leon Pender and Maggie Gertrude Siddon Pender. She was married to Roy T. Lewis in 1952 and they spent their 62 years of marriage in Jackson before his passing in 2014.
Marene is survived by her daughters Cheryl (Mike), Sonya (Jeff), Renee (Buddy), and son Kevin (Debi), as well as nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, with two more on the way this summer.
Marene graduated from Kosciusko High School and attended Holmes Community College. After raising her four children, she served as Office Manager for the Northside Sun Newspaper for many years until retirement. Marene was a long-time member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Jackson.
A private graveside service was held at Parkway Cemetery in Kosciusko on Sunday, March 2, 2025. Randy Rhodes officiated the service. A virtual memorial service will be held at a future date.
