Loree Cody

Loree Alexander Cody, 88, loving mother, sister and devoted friend passed away Friday. Funeral: 11:00AM Thursday, December 3rd at North Union Church, West, Mississippi, Pastor Ladell Blanton officiating. Burial will follow at North Union Cemetery with interment next to her beloved first daughter, Valera, who preceded her passing in 1992 and sister, Nellie Norwood (d. 2012) Memorial: At a later date at Prairie Grove Baptist Church, Mexia, TX. Mrs. Cody was a native of Mississippi and a graduate and Salutatorian of Kosciusko High School, class of 1945. She moved to Texas in 1948, living in Teague and Mexia. She worked for many years in Karner-Phillips Department Store in Mexia. Mrs. Cody dearly loved this job and was loved in turn by the people she assisted and whose lives she touched. She was a longtime member of Prairie Grove Baptist Church of Mexia. She moved to Keller, TX in 2010 to live with her daughter, Vicki and son-in-law, Hart Van Meter. Survivors: Sister, Peggy McCain of Nesbit, MS, brothers Carl Alexander (wife; June) of Streetman, TX, Joe Alexander, John Alexander both of West, MS and Larry Alexander (wife; Ginger) of Kosciusko, MS, daughter Vicki C. Van Meter (husband Hart), numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Additionally she will be lovingly remembered by extended church families of Mexia and Colleyville, TX. Gifts: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Prairie Grove Baptist Church general fund or the charity of your choice.
