Lena Rose Overton Veazey-Moore, 90, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2025, at her residence in Kosciusko. Visitation will be from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko. Funeral services will follow at 12:30 pm from the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in McCool Cemetery. Rev. Shannon Pennington will officiate the services.
Lena Rose was born on October 1, 1934, in Greenville, Mississippi, to William Thomas and Irene Pike Overton. She is a retired seamstress at Leonard’s Department Store in Kosciusko, a longtime member of the Kosciusko First United Pentecostal Church, and a member of Southern Oaks United Pentecostal Church of Oklahoma City.
She is survived by two sons, William Robert Veazey of Kosciusko, MS, and Richard Lee (Brenda Burchfield) Veazey of Tunica, MS; two grandchildren, Lacey Veazey-Daniel and Judith Veazey-Daniel; two great-grandchildren, Delta Veazey-Daniel and George Nolan Veazey-Daniel; one sister, Addie Jean Merchant of Oklahoma City, OK.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Nolan Veazey and James Moore, and four siblings, Josie Overton Salers, Ann McGuire, Bill Overton, and Bob Overton.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Tunica Humaine Society.
