Kishiko Shoji Brock

Kishiko (Kish) Brock, 87, born May 6, 1930 in Tokyo Japan, a Kosciusko resident since 1962, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the Oaks on Parkwood senior living community in Bessemer, Alabama. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 10th at Jordan Funeral Home, with burial following at Parkway Cemetery. Reverend Barry Corbett officiated. Kish met and married Garner Brock, a Kosciusko resident since the mid-1930s, while he was stationed in Japan with the United States Army in 1954. They moved back to America in 1956, where she proudly became a naturalized American citizen in 1961. After relocating to Kosciusko and raising her family, she was an active member of the local chapters of both Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. Her hobbies included travelling the U.S. with Garner, sewing, knitting, gardening, and spoiling her granddaughters. She enjoyed attending services at Hurricane Baptist Church on Hwy 12 until her health declined. A loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she is survived by two children, Kent Brock and Janet Brock Kinsman, and their spouses Mary Brock and David Kinsman; three grandchildren, Kelly Kinsman Estep, Whitney Brock Reynolds, and Kelsie Brock; three great-grandchildren, Rebecca Estep, Gabriel Reynolds, and Emry Claire Reynolds; sisters-in-law Cammie Sue Branch and Glenda Ann Hunt; and her brother, Masahiro Shoji of Sapporo, Japan. Kish was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and brother, and her husband of 54 years, Garner W. Brock.
