Karen Ruth Hardeman Holt departed her earthly body and took her place among the Great Cloud of Witnesses on November 29, 2024. Karen was born to James Henry and Ruth Hardeman in New Iberia, Louisiana, on March 11, 1954. It is fitting that the day of her departure would be in a time of thanksgiving, for it is the day she has fervently desired and earnestly pursued while on this side - to see the Father and the Son, with her unveiled eyes, face to face. There is no doubt she entered the gates of His house with thanksgiving. She now stands in the presence of the One she loves, for Whom she forsook all, to Whom she gave her heart, the One who has faithfully kept her and brought her to Himself. She now and forever dwells in the Father’s House, gazing upon His beauty. We who remain, awaiting our reunion, rejoice with her as she rejoices. But we also mourn. For we are now asked to run the rest of this race without our beloved friend just a text or phone call away. And if you knew Karen, you know, anywhere in the world, she was just a phone call from being at your side, giving everything, to see God’s purpose for your life come to be. So, today, rejoice. Today, mourn. Today, imagine the beauty that Karen is now beholding. And today, if you hear His voice, answer. For today, Karen is joining hands with the Great High Priest to intercede for us to run our race to win and to see her again. Karen was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, James Barry Holt; daughter, Elsa Eve Holt Brasher (Jess); grandchildren Paxton Doty, Anna Doty, Finley Brasher, Austin Brasher, and Conner Brasher; brothers Sparky (Cathey) Hardeman of Houston, Texas, Steve (Melissa) Hardeman of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Johnny Hardeman of Houma, Louisiana, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and fellow followers of Jesus. Services will be held at Jordan Funeral Home, 855 MS-12, Kosciusko, Mississippi, on Sunday, December 1, 2024. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2 p.m. Karen’s last Facebook post read, “Years ago, Jesus dropped into my inner heart and said to me, ‘You’ll always find Me among the poor.’ It changed the entire direction of my life. He recently spoke again, ‘I want you to give the remainder of your life to prayer and consideration of the poor.’ I’m happy to do so.” In remembrance of Karen’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to ministries that focus on prayer and caring for the poor.
