Following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's, Judith Gayle Alderman of Kosciusko, MS, passed away on February 23, 2025, at the age of 81. Visitation and services will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Kosciusko, MS, with Bro. Barry Corbett, Bro. Luke Gardner and Bro. Mark Parnell officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm-2:00 pm, with the funeral beginning at 2:00 p.m. Graveside services will follow at Rocky Point Cemetery. Jordan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Judy was born in Fort Riley, Kansas, on July 12, 1943. She attended Barnes High School, class of 1962. She was a stellar basketball player, and it showed by being selected to play in the 1962 State All-Star game in Decatur, MS. She was also a member of the All-Kosciusko 1s Tournament Team 1959 - 1962. She was offered a scholarship to play basketball but chose to get married, start a family, and go to work. She attended Carthage Beauty School in 1963 and began working immediately after graduating. She worked as a cosmetologist for 49 ½ years before retiring in 2017. Everyone will remember Judy as a hard worker who juggled work in her beauty shop while continuing to take care of her ladies in the hospital and homebound nursing home and never letting the role of a wife and mother fall short at home. Judy had a passion for taking care of others, and it showed in her daily life. Judy loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Kosciusko, where she served as an assistant Sunday School teacher in the children's department for many years. She was a member of a wonderful ladies' Sunday School class who continued to come and help as needed.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years that has taken complete care of her since being diagnosed with Alzheimer's, Billy Alderman of Kosciusko, MS. She was the mother to one daughter, Tracey Alderman of Greenwood, MS, whom she took the very best care of until she couldn't due to her illness, and one son, Kelly Alderman (Sha) of Decatur, MS. She was MayMay to two grandsons, Ty Alderman (Kayla) of Decatur, MS and Kemp Alderman (Sailor) of Oxford, MS. Three great-grandsons, Cason Kline, Dax and Bowen Alderman of Decatur, MS. Two brothers, Jimmy Kemp (Donna) of Florence, AL and Jan Kemp (Angie) of BeeBee, Arkansas. Judy has a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family that she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her father, Bill Kemp; her mother and stepfather, James and Mildred Turner Cummins; and one sister, Shirley Miller.
Pallbearers are Ricky Henderson, Ronnie Henderson, Danny Holt, Dodd Lindsey, Steve Rawson, Scott Millikan. Travis McBride, Chuck Lawrence, Jeff Burrell, Michael McCool, and Lailon Dorsey are Honorary Pallbearers.
Memorial Donations may be made to Baptist Children’s Village, P.0.Box 27, Clinton, MS 39060, in Judy's name.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Halcyon Hospice, especially the volunteers who have come daily and helped take care of Judy over the last four years. They have been amazing and a blessing to our family.
