Juanita Burchfield Standard

Juanita Burchfield Standard, 97, died Thursday, December 4, 2014, at Atwood Personal Care in Kosciusko. Visitation is from 11-1 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. in the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Marvin Chapel Cemetery. Jordan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Rev. Ron Thomas will officiate. She was born January 18, 1917 in Attala County, MS. She married her beloved husband, Johnny A. Standard in 1941. She was known as a Mother/Grandmother to so many. (nieces, nephews, and other members of their families) She made a wonderful difference in so many lives like her parents, brothers, sisters, and many loved ones. Her love and strength were remarkable. She worked in the public until age 62 and then she retired from the ASCS Office, Kosciusko. She was a member of the Stonewall Presbyterian Church of Ethel, MS and upon her marriage became an active part of the Marvin Chapel Methodist Church and community. She was very active with both families-Burchfields and Standards as well as her extended families. Those surviving to cherish her memory are brother, J. D. Burchfield of Clinton, MS (formerly of Ackerman); sisters, Pauline Holston (Bobby) from Brandon, Gwendolyn Fleming of Montgomery, AL, and Betty Carolyn Love of Jackson, MS; a host of nieces and nephews and other loved ones and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Homer and Ray Bell Burchfield; sisters, Ella Mae Bain and Marie Smith; brother, Lamar Burchfield; and other loved ones. Memorials may be made to Marvin Chapel Cemetery Fund, c/o Ralph Miller, 22287 Hwy 12 East, Kosciusko, MS 39090; or Stonewall Presbyterian Church in Ethel, MS 39067; or the Alzheimer Association.
