John William Powell III, 85, of Kosciusko, MS, passed away November 18, 2014 surrounded by loved ones. He is preceded in death by his parents, John William and Maggie Dee Powell, sister Margaret Holmes, and son William Daniel (Dan) Powell. John is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Sylvia Ellis Powell and his children, Donna Scott (George) of Memphis, Diane Hembree of South Carolina, Katrina Minor (Tom) of Rossville, TN, and Teresa Richerme of Kosciusko, MS, and grandchildren, John Minor, Jessica Morton, Joseph Richerme, Kendra Zimmerman, and Nathan Zimmerman (Ginny), and great grandchildren, Bradley, Katelyn, Lillian, Emma, and Autumn, and brother, James G Powell (Diane). John retired from General Motors as District Manager after 30 years. After retirement, he and Sylvia enjoyed traveling the US and Canada in their motor home for 25 years. They are members of First United Methodist Church. The Memorial Service will take place at 11 am Friday, November 21 at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko, MS with visitation from 10-11.
