John Austin Gwaltney was born November 12, 1999, in Jackson, Mississippi, to John Gwaltney and Marie Faulkenbery. A beloved 23- year-old who dedicated his life to the Lord approaching his death. Though at the time, he did not know he would be embraced in God’s arms so soon. Anyone who knew John Austin would say he was incredibly talented with all things he pursued. He was an outstanding; fisherman, dirt biker, skateboarder, artist, and photographer. John Austin was loved by all who knew him, and he never met a stranger. He was a light, he lit up any room he walked in, and we will carry those memories he blessed us with always. As a result of his compassionate spirit and enthusiastic personality, he was loved by many. His influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him. He repented and gave his life to Christ, and less than two weeks later, the Lord called him home. “Your faith has saved you; go in peace” Luke 7:50. Those we love don’t go away. They walk beside us everyday. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed, and very dear. “We who are still alive will be called up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air” 1 Thessalonians 4:17.

He is survived by his parents John and Rebecca Gwaltney, and mother, Marie Faulkenbery; grandparents, Glenda Gwaltney and Randall Faulkenbery; siblings, Dustin, Zoey, Natileigh, Tyler, Thomas, Seth, and Brandon; aunts, uncles, and 22 cousins. His short but extraordinary life will forever be cherished in the lives of his family and friends.

John was preceded in death by grandfather James Samuel Gwaltney, Sr., and grandmother, Bobbie Faulkenbery.
