John Sorrells passed away on August 6, 2015, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS, surrounded by family and friends. Visitation will be at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, followed by the funeral at 2:30 p.m. Burial is to follow at Parkway Cemetery. John was born in Sledge, Mississippi, on March 4, 1929, the only son of the late Harry Sorrells and Gladys Chorley Sorrells. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Kosciusko. John joined the U.S. Navy after high school and served during the Korean War of which he was very proud. He was an outdoor person that enjoyed fishing, hunting, and even bowling. John was predeceased by his wife, Maveleen Harris Sorrells, and his sister, Betty Sorrells. He leaves behind his wife, Minnie T. Sorrells, and two daughters, Melissa Jackson (Bob) of Clinton, MS, and Pam Sills (Mike) of Kosciusko; four grandchildren, Marc Sills (Diane) of Ackerman, MS, Ashley Broyles (Chris) of Kosciusko, Wesley Jackson (Audrey) of Madison, MS, and Brooke Balducci (Alan) of Memphis, TN; and five great grandchildren, Briana Sills, Bryce Broyles, Kaitlyn Broyles, Ashton Jackson, and Matthew Jackson; and sister, Harriett Owens (Bo) of Kosciusko. Pallbearers will be Wesley Jackson, Alan Balducci, Marc Sills, Jimmy Mullen, Hamer Morgan, and Jeff Sims. Honorary pallbearers will be A.T. Dismuke, Bill Mitchell and the Men's Bible Class. Memorials may be made to Kosciusko First United Methodist Church, 110 E. Washington Street, Kosciusko, MS 39090.
