Joel Thomas Edwards, 90, passed from this life into his eternal home on June 18, 2014. Visitation is from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 22. Funeral services are 4 p.m. Sunday, June 22 at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Derrick Wilson, Rev. Walter Hines and Rev. Don Cook will officiate. Mr. Edwards was born March 31, 1924 to Tom and Bessie Edwards. He was an Army Air Force Veteran of World War II, and was employed by the Federal Government for 37 years. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church and previously Berclair Baptist Church, in Memphis, serving as a deacon and Sunday School teacher at both churches. Those surviving him are his son, Michael S. Edwards of Bolton, MS; daughters, Linda E. (Larry) Rea of Kosciusko and Tommie E. Wilkes of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Laura (Sherman) Miller, Amy (Jeff) DeLong, Stephen (Shea) Rea, Matthew Edwards, and Sarah Edwards; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Crowe of Oxford. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Edwards; and a sister, Margaret Holcomb. Pallbearers are Randy Crowe, Jeff DeLong, Tommy Holcomb, Ralph Miller, Sherman Miller, and George Patton. Honorary pallbearers are the Adult Men's Sunday School Class at Parkway Baptist Church. Memorials may be sent to the Parkway Baptist Church Building Fund.
