James S. Callahan

March 24, 1944 — September 21, 2017

James Samuel Callahan, 73, passed away on September 21, 2017 at the Vaiden Community Living Center after a prolonged illness. The family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the memorial service. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. of October 7, 2017 at the Providence Independent Methodist Church in the Carmack Community. The staff of Vaiden Community Living Center and Legacy Hospice will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. He was born on March 24, 1944. He served in the Armed Forces. He was a member of the Westview Baptist Church in Douglasville, GA. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge #84. Survivors include his children, Vickie Elaine Hodges of McCool, David Steven Callahan (Angie) of Villa Rica, GA, Dennis Stanley Callahan of Villa Rica, GA, Valarie Callahan Goss (Steven) of Vaiden, and Darren Stacy Callahan (Lisa) of Villa Rica, GA; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Brown Callahan and his parents, Samuel and Louise Tilson Littlefield Callahan. In lieu of flowers, the family requested to donate to Vaiden Community Living Center, 868 Mulberry Street, Vaiden, MS 39176 or Legacy Hospice, 1410 Wooded Drive, Grenada, MS 38901.
