Obituary for James Reynolds Brooks A Military graveside service for James Reynolds Brooks will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Stonewall Cemetery, in Kosciusko, MS. under the direction of Jordan Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at John Kramer & Son Funeral Home, Alexandria, LA. Rev. Bruce Miller will lead a wake at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel of John Kramer & Son. Visitation will resume at 9 a.m. until time of service at Stonewall Chapel in Ethel, MS on Thursday, April 16, 2015 He was born October 24, 1925 in Ethel, Mississippi. He graduated from Ethel High School in April 1943 and joined the United States Army Air Corps. He retired from the United Stated Air Force in September 1966. He served a total of 21 years and retired as a Tech Sergeant. He is a veteran of World War II and the Vietnam War. He was in service during the Korean Conflict, but did not participate in this campaign. After separating from military service he spent three years living in Ethel, Mississippi, and then moved to Alexandria, Louisiana, where he spent the remainder of his life. During his time in Alexandria, he was active in many organizations, including past President of the St. Rita's Credit Union. He married Lila Mary Brunt on December 20, 1947. They had two children, James Anthony (Tony) Brooks and Mary Teresa (Terry) Brooks Hahn. This marriage ended by death on January 17, 1969. He married Elizabeth Lou Gremillion on November 28, 1970. This marriage produced no children and ended by death on January 22, 2000. He married Shirley Guillory Racine on July 27, 2002. This marriage produced no children. He is preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Estalee Brooks and sister, Lovie Barber. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Brooks, his two children, and four sisters Wawweese Kimbrough (Earl, Jr.), Maurice Webster (Jerry), Sara Long (Billy), and Shirley Rone (Paul) six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by one step-daughter, Sharon Racine Youngblood (Billy), one step-grandchild, and two step great-grandchildren. The family wishes to give a special thanks to St. Joseph's Hospice for their care and compassion. Honorary pallbearers are his four surviving brothers-in-law, Paul Rone, Jerry Webster, Billy Long and Raymond Brunt.
