James Middleton, Jr.

James Herman Middleton, Jr., 86, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS.

Mr. Middleton was a French Camp Presbyterian Church member and a retired teacher at French Camp Academy. He served in the United States Army from 1955-1958. He was loved by his students and received numerous recognitions as “Teacher of the Year.” His hobbies included cross-stitching and knitting. James collected snowman figurines and was passionate about hosting and cooking at his home for friends at his annual Christmas party.

Mr. Middleton was preceded in death by his parents, James Herman Middleton, Sr., and Elver Ellzey Middleton; brothers, Thomas Middleton, Billy R. Middleton, Bobby Joe Middleton, Donnie Middleton, and Dennis Middleton; sisters, Maxine Oakes, Paula Lilly, and Louise Cochran.

He is survived by his brothers, Rufus Middleton, Robert Middleton, Charles (Mona Ray) Middleton, and Richard Middleton, and sisters, Sybil Toombs and Maurine Ward (Cecil).

Visitation is from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at the French Camp Presbyterian Church. Funeral Services are 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at French Camp Presbyterian Church. The committal service and burial with United States Military Honors will follow at French Camp Cemetery. Rev. Alex Coblentz, Bruce Hosket, and Glen Barlow will officiate the services.
