James "Jimmy" Walter Sledge

Jimmy Sledge Carthage James Walter Sledge, 62, passed away on May 11, 2020 at Baptist-Columbus. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, May 15 in the Canton City Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Meggs will officiate He served as the Minister of Music for several different churches. He was a member of the West Carthage Baptist Church. He was a former member of the Glory Road Boys Tenor Quartet. Survivors include his brother, William "Tony" Sledge of Nettleton; sister, Linda (Fred) Jackson of Easley, SC; nieces, Kathy Swartwood, Cyndi Ray, and Madeline Murphree; and nephews, Lee Frederick, Dwight Fortenberry, and Michael Fortenberry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Joseph and Mae Ethel Renfroe Sledge; brother, Robert Sledge; and sisters, Patricia Prevost and Paulette McLeod.
