James "Jim" Andrew Isackson

September 27, 1935 — January 14, 2018

James Andrew Isackson, Sr., 82, passed away January 14, 2018 in the Martha Jo Leslie Veterans' Home in Kosciusko. Jim, as known to family and friends, enlisted in the United States Army upon completion of high school. After serving in the Army, he became a truck owner/operator hauling bricks until he retired. During this time, he married Joyce Cockroft of Pleasant Grove in Leake County, Mississippi. He and Joyce made Mississippi their home in 1979. He is survived by his brother, Calvin (Diane) Isackson; sister, Virginia Dinwitty; grandchildren, Shelia (Scott) Pickle, Gina (Justin) Develin, and Justin (Carol) Isackson; great-grandchildren, Griffin Pickle, Taylor Pickle, Ellie Develin, and Rhodes Develin; daughter-in-law, Marie Griffin; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; sons, James Danny Griffin and James Andrew Isackson, Jr.; parents, Robert and Ruth Isackson; and brother, Robert "Bobby" Isackson. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church, where he was active in his Sunday school class and enjoyed singing in the choir. Visitation is 12-1 p.m. on Thursday, January 18 at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel and burial in the Conway Cemetery. Rev. Don Cook will officiate. Pallbearers are Justin Isackson, Scott Pickle, Justin Develin, Griffin Pickle, and Taylor Pickle. Online condolences can be made at jordanfuneralhome.com.
