James Elmo Chapman

James Elmo Chapman was born on February 28, 1952, and passed away on December 26, 2021. He was born and raised in Kosciusko MS, the son of Elmo and Dean Hubbert Chapman. James graduated from Kosciusko High School , attended Holmes Jr. College, and received a BS degree from Mississippi State University, later earning his MBA from Mississippi College. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity at MSU. James’ younger years were filled with many sports activities, especially baseball, football and field events. This interest extended into adulthood as he played recreational sports and spent several years officiating for local baseball and football games. The main part of James’ career life was spent in banking, with a long tenure in the marketing department of Deposit Guaranty National Bank in Jackson. He later retired from SourceLink in Madison MS. In recent years he served as an adjunct professor at Belhaven University and also had formed a consulting company doing statistical analysis for several businesses. He was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church. James enjoyed working in his yard, family get-togethers, reading, and taking care of his beloved dog, Jessie. He is predeceased by his parents . He is survived by his children Jeffrey C. Chapman(Emily) of Lansdowne, Virginia, and Elizabeth Chapman Coleman(Kem) of Amory, MS. He leaves 6 grand-daughters whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by a sister, Dianne Chapman Powell of Jackson, MS, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Any memorials may be made to French Camp Academy, 1 Fine Place, French Camp, MS. A family graveside service will be held on Friday, December 31, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in Parkway Cemetery in Kosciusko MS. A visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. at Jordan Funeral Home, Kosciusko, MS, prior to the service.
