James Asa "Sonny" Cummins

James Asa "Sonny" Cummins, 77, of Kosciusko, died Monday, June15, 2015 at his home. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday, June 18 at Springdale Baptist Church with burial in the Brister Cemetery. Rev. Dan West, Rev. Ladell Blanton, and Rev. James Culpepper will officiate. He was the owner of Attala Stove Company. He was a 3rd degree Mason and 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Shriner's Club and the Chamber of Commerce. He was a Gideon and member of Springdale Baptist Church and a lifetime deacon for 52 years. He was a member of the National Guard and made many mission trips. Survivors include wife of 57 years, Pearlean Oakes Cummins; children, Margie (Paul) Killian of Kosciusko, son, Dr. Ronnie (Iris) Cummins of Corinth, son, Frankie (Beth) Cummins of Kosciusko, and daughter, Dr. Melynda (Steve) Noble of Greenwood; grandchildren, Paige (Steve) Caldwell, Lauren (Josh) Watts, Matthew Nelson, Cynthia Cummins, Joshua Nelson, Jake Cummins, Marleigh McCrimmon, Stephanie McCrimmon, and Rebekah Cummins; great-grandchildren, Anna Laura Watts, Stella Caldwell, Steven Caldwell, and Scarlett James Cummins. He was preceded in death by his father, James Melton Cummins; mother, Sally Hodges Cummins Campbell' and sister, Blessing Cummins Ryals. Pallbearers are Matthew Nelson, Joshua Nelson, Jake Cummins, Josh Watts, Steve Caldwell, and Corey McElwain.
