Happy Travis Grice passed on to glory March 2, 2025, at 2:45 pm, at the V.A. nursing home in Kosciusko, MS. He was born at home in Attala Co. MS, on April 19, 1933.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Leora Pullan Grice; his sisters, Charleen Grice Bagwell and Lorrine Grice Bailey Hogan; his brother, Osmand Leo Grice; his infant son; and his wife of almost 72 years, Norma Ruth Luper Grice.
Happy is survived by his children, Mark Travis Grice, Kevin Luper Grice, and Kimberly Rose Grice Faulk; his four grandchildren James Travis Grice, Iva Ruth Faulk, Chloe Rose Faulk Crimm, Ladye Leora Faulk Vance; and his great- grandchildren Brianna Faith Grice, Maci Nicole Grice Barlow, Kyle Travis Grice, and Magnolia Rose Crimm.
Happy was a husband, father, papaw, great-papaw, and soldier. He served in the United States Army for almost 22 years. He did one tour in Korea and two in Vietnam, where he earned a Bronze Star. He also earned a Joint Service Commendation Medal and a Merit Commendation Medal. He retired as an SPC. E7. After retirement from the Army, he went on to work for Attala Engineering, Peavey Co., and Con-Agra. He retired from Con-Agra in 1994.
Happy was a member of French Camp Baptist Church and served as a deacon for many years. He was also a long-time member of Natchez Trace Masonic Lodge 609 and a past Master. He was also a Shriner and member of the Hamasa Shrine Temple in Starkville, MS.
Happy will be missed, but because of Jesus, we will see him again. For now, we mourn his passing and rejoice in God's promises.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 7, 2025, at French Camp Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at French Camp Baptist Church, with burial following the service at French Camp Community Cemetery with military honors.
