Grace Jenkins Bain

Funeral services for Grace Jenkins Bain, of Greenwood, MS will be under the direction of Jordan Funeral Home, Kosciusko, MS. Visitation will be at Jordan Funeral Home from 9:00 am -11:00 am with the funeral starting at 11:00 am Saturday, January 18, 2014. Burial will be at Marvin Chapel Cemetery. Grace was born on October 24, 1925 in the Zemuly Community of Attala Co., MS. She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer & Bonnie Ballard Jenkins, brothers Bill, Ballard, Carl (Snook), John Jenkins and sister, Nell Jenkins Denman. She is survived by her sister Ruby Jenkins Russell of Greenwood, MS, brother Frank (Peggy) Jenkins of Thomastown, MS and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Grace cherished her relationship with the Melton Family who lived next door to her in Greenwood, MS. She thought of them as family. She graduated from Thomastown High School in 1946. She married W.C. "Mac" Bain of Ethel November 14, 1947. She and Mac were married for 67 years. Grace went to work for South Central Bell shortly after her high school graduation and continued working until her retirement. After she retired Grace enjoyed traveling. She was an active member of the South Central Bell Pioneer Club. She took painting lessons and became an accomplished painter. Two of her favorite objects to paint were ducks and magnolias on wood and canvas. She participated in many arts/crafts shows throughout Mississippi. Grace never met a stranger and enjoyed the many Jenkins Family reunions she attended over her life time. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Greenwood, MS and was a member of the Russell Sunday School Class.
