Gordon Raymond Parsley

April 11, 1947 — June 6, 2016

Gordon R. Parsley Kosciusko Rev. Gordon R. Parsley, passed from this life on June 6, 2015 at his home in Kosciusko. He was 69 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray O. and Minnie Parsley. He is survived by his wife, Annette; their sons, Jared and Tyler; his only brother, Rev. James D. Parsley and wife, Shirley; only nephew, Jay Dean and his wife's family; and many friends in Christ. Bro. Parsley credits his only brother, Jim, as leading him to accept Christ at age 14 years. He surrendered to preach the Gospel at age 15 and preached his first sermon at the local jail. After graduation from high school in Hamilton, Ohio, he attended Bob Jones University in South Carolina and then graduated in 1969 with a BA in Theology form Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO. He has pastored churches in Kentucky, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, and Mississippi over 36 year period and preached for over 54 years. When he stopped pastoring due to health, he continued to be faithful to God by witnessing and counseling via mail, telephone, and internet. He loved people because God does. Bro. Parsley awaits all of us who know Jesus as Savior in Heaven, where he has only begun to live. His brother, Rev. James D. Parsley, pastor of Poteau Baptist Church in Poteau, OK will officiate the graveside services on Wednesday, June 8 at 10 a.m. in the Parkway Cemetery in Kosciusko.
