Gerald R. "Jerry" Randt West Point Gerald R. "Jerry" Randt, 90, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Martha Jo Leslie Veterans Home in Kosciusko. A memorial service will be held 4:30 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church in West Point, MS. Rev. James Towery will officiate. Burial will be at a later date with military honors in the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. He served in the Air National Guard, Navy Reserves Coast Guard and the Navy in World War II. He also served during the Asian Pacific Theatre in Okinawa on the USS Trevor, where the ship was hit with enemy fire. He was the radioman 3rd Class and a ham radio operator at home. He taught classes on Morse Code. He enjoyed cruising the Great Lakes. His family wants to give a heartfelt thank you to the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko for their loving care. Survivors include son, Gerald Douglas Randt of Battle Creek, MI; daughter, Sandra Lee Jones and husband, James Patrick "Buddy" of Battle Creek, MI; three grandchildren, Kevin Green, Tammara Wilson and husband, Steve, and Kyle Jones and wife, Sarah; four great-grandchildren, Kristina and husband, Joe, Cate, Anna and Lexi; three great-great-grandchildren, Faith, Kaden, and Ella; brother, Lawrence Randt of Shelbyville, MI; and special friends, Angie Estes, Henry Donour, Jaimy and Regina Towery, Raymon and Teresa Hodnett, and the community of West Point, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Max Robert and Louise Margaret Russell Randt; and sisters, Mildred Bee Be and Virginia Johnson. Online condolences can be made at jordanfuneralhome.com.
