George F. Edwards

George F. Edwards, 90, of Durant, Mississippi passed away January 29, 2023 at Martha Jo Leslie State Veterans Home in Kosciusko. Visitation is 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Jordan Funeral Home. Funeral service is 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Parkway Cemetery. Rev. Ed McDaniel will officiate.
George was born March 21, 1932, in West, Mississippi to Luther “Luke” Edwards and Johnnie Self Edwards. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Durant, Mississippi. George served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 1983 and a Mason. George was retired from the Illinois Central Gulf as a Brakeman.
George is survived by son Jeff (Monica) Edwards of Walker, Louisiana; daughter Linnea McMillan of Canton, Mississippi; sisters Katherine (Donald) Williams of Kosciusko, Mississippi and Dorothy Burchfield of Madison, Mississippi; grandchildren Nick Edwards, Shelby Wilson, Jessica Edwards, Jude Bourgeois, Kayla McMillan, and Ryan McMillan; 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents Luther “Luke” Edwards and Johnnie Self Edwards; wife Margie Pace Edwards; brothers Charlie Edwards and Walter Edwards; sisters Ruth, Bessie, and Mary Frances.
Serving as pallbearers is Duane Pace, Brian Pace, Josh Pace, and Ryan McMillan.
