Frances Thompson Evans

Frances Marie Thompson Evans, 93, passed away at home in Kosciusko. Mrs. Evans was born November 7, 1921, in Aberdeen. She lived in both Aberdeen and Amory before moving to Kosciusko in 1956. Mrs. Evans was a member of First Baptist Church of Kosciusko, for 60 years, where she taught Sunday school, served as a church hostess, and on the Welcoming Committee. In her earlier years she was active in the Kosciusko School's PTA, and the Band Booster Organization. She was a former member, and past president, of the Kosciusko Garden Club, and a former member of the Natchez Trace Garden Club. Mrs. Evans loved playing Bridge with many friends. In her first years in Kosciusko, she was co-owner of the Star Printing Company. She retired in 1990, as Executive Housekeeper, in charge of Environmental Services, from Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her husband, J.S. Evans, Sr.; son, John S. Evans II; parents, Joe Clarence and Lola Thompson; two sisters, Ella Thompson Smith, and Eva Thompson Jones; and a brother, Joe C. Thompson. She is survived by her son, Joe Thompson Evans, and his wife, Helen, of Gulfport; daughter-in-law, Desiree Evans, of Watertown, TN; grandsons, Matthew Joseph Evans, and wife, Joy, of Oceanside, CA, Erick Gregory Evans, and wife, Kimbrell, of Madison, and James Cody Evans, of Watertown, TN; three great-grandchildren, Audrey Carolyn Evans, and Bryce Thompson Evans, both of Oceanside, CA, and Anna Spencer Evans, of Madison; two nephews, Bryce H. Jones, and wife, Beth, of Kingwood, TX, and F. Brent Jones, and wife, Janie, of Amory; four great nieces and nephews, and one great-great niece and nephew. The family wishes to express their love and appreciation to her wonderful caregivers, and family members, Clara Mallet Newell, Amy Newell, and Louise Mallet. Their unselfish love and care will be forever remembered.
