Ezra Weldon Ellis

Mr. Ellis was a lifelong member of Friendship United Methodist Church. He retired from Sheller Globe in Kosciusko. After retirement most any day he could be found on his family farm tending his garden or cattle or riding his gator. He was a World War II Navy veteran serving aboard the USS Sibley from which he piloted a troop landing barge and landed troops at Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He also spent time at Eniwetok Atoll in the Marshall Islands. In 2012 he was privileged to travel to Washington, DC on an Honor Flight arranged by his great niece, Terry Brewer of Tuscaloosa, AL. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Dorothy King Ellis; his parents, Virgil Alexander and Emma Bailey Ellis; and his brothers, Arlis, Alton, Quinton, Pascal, and Elmo Ellis. Mr. Ellis is survived by one son, Lamar Ellis and his wife, Betty, of Kilmichael. He also is survived by four grandchildren; Bridgett Ellis Sessions (Joelee) of Brandon, Shelley Ellis Hunger (James) of Winona, Lori Ellis Bowering (Todd) also of Winona, and Philip Alexander Ellis (Tish) of Smyrna, TN along with eleven great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. Also surviving are sister-in laws, Mrs. Quinton Ellis of Carmack, Mrs. Joe King and Mrs. Herbert King both of Kosciusko; nieces, Betty Ellis Darnell (John) of Birmingham, AL and Dr. Glenda Ellis Stephens of Cumming, GA; along with a host of great nieces and nephews. The family thanks the staff at Vaiden Community Living and a special thanks to Melissa McElroy for the loving care given him over the past two years. Pallbearers: Philip Ellis, Joelee Sessions, Todd Bowering, Bryce Bowering, Cody Toth, Dillon Toth, and Garrett Toth. Honorary Pallbearer: Herman Bagwell.
