Emily was born on September 16, 1931, in Carthage, Mississippi, to W.E. and Anna Dick Smith. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who lived a life full of love, faith, and joy.

Emily’s life was rooted in her deep love for family and community. She was a spirited cheerleader and majorette in high school, where she met her husband, Guinn Ellis Moore, while he played basketball—a romance that blossomed into 49 years of marriage. Together, they raised a beautiful family in Columbia, Mississippi, where Emily's creativity in the kitchen brought joy to all. Later, the family moved to Kosciusko, Mississippi, where Emily continued to nurture and care for her loved ones. There was always room for one more friend at the table, and the back door was open to all coffee drinkers.

She was a gracious hostess who delighted in entertaining and creating a welcoming home. Her grandchildren cherished their visits, filled with laughter, breakfast in bed, TV shopping sprees, and Mimi’s signature homemade chocolate sauce. Her great sense of humor and vivacious spirit made her a joy to be around.

Emily was a devoted Christian who hosted weekly Bible studies in her home for nearly 20 years, exemplifying her faith and love for others. Emily Ann “Mimi” Moore will be remembered for her unwavering faith, boundless love for her family, and ability to create joy and laughter. Her legacy of kindness and grace lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

She is survived by her two daughters, Vivian Moore (Mack) Burns of San Antonio, Texas, Dottie Moore (David) Vlasuk of Seattle, Washington; her daughter-in-law, Cynthia Floyd Moore of Grenada, Mississippi; and her four grandchildren, Ana Burns (Trent) Houg, Ryan Christopher (Emily) Burns, William Ellis Burns, and Carter Ellison Moore; three great-grandchildren; Alexa Burns, Aydan Houg, and Adysen Houg.

Emily was preceded in death by her husband, Guinn Ellis Moore; her son, Timothy Wayne Moore; her parents; her infant brother, Wayne Emmette Smith; her sisters, Ima Peoples, Mary Elizabeth Waggoner, and Dorothy “Dot” Holaday.
